Bronze
(Primarily 8&U and developing 9-10 student-athletes)
The primary goal of Bronze and Silver is to the lay the groundwork for future success (sound stroke mechanics, proper starts, turns, finishes, strong base of kicking, and relay exchanges), the goals of Gold is to build the aerobic base and master distance free and distance IM events (ensuring a well rounded swimmer), while the goal of Senior is to prepare swimmers for college swimming.
The primary movement date for the Fall & Winter Season is December 1 of each year. The primary movement date for the Spring & Summer Season is the first day of the Summer Season (each swimmer is also evaluated at the conclusion of a season and during the season as well).
To move from Bronze to Silver, swimmers must prove proficiency in the skills listed below and be recommended for movement by their coach:
- Demonstrate mastery (legal) in the following events: 25 Free, 25 Back, 25 Breast, 25 Fly, 50 Free, 50 Back, and 100 IM.
- Demonstrate consistent and proper use of the streamline position (can explain what proper streamlining looks like)
- Demonstrate a streamlined racing start from the side of the pool
- Dives "in the same hole" - fingers first, then elbows, shoulders, hips, knees, feet (can explain what a proper streamlined racing start looks like)
- Demonstrate a streamlined racing backstroke start (can explain what a proper streamlined racing backstroke start looks like)
- Demonstrate an open turn (can explain what an open turn is)
- Bilateral breaths when swimming freestyle during practice
- Begins to understand what the pace clock is and how to use it (can show where pace clocks are located)
Silver
(Primarily 9-10, developing 11-14, and advanced 8&U student-athletes)

- Demonstrate mastery (legal) in the following events: 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, and 200 IM
- Can demonstrate, understand, and explain proper breakouts (from a start and a turn) for the four competitive strokes
- Can legally complete the following training sets: 6x50 on 1:00 Free, 6x50 on 1:10 Back, 6x50 on 1:15 Breast, 8x25 on:40 Fly, and 6x50 on 1:15 flutter kick
- Best times are equal to or faster than 50 Free 39.99, 50 Back 44.99, 50 Breast 49.99, 50 Fly 49.99, and 100 IM 1:45.99
- Achieve a BB time standard (13-14 swimmers use 11-12 time standards)
Gold
(Primarily 13-14 and advanced 9-12) student-athletes

- Demonstrates the ability to perform a T-20 twice per season with improvement
- Can legally complete the following training sets: 4x200 on 3:00 IM, 7x100 on 1:45 flutter kick, and 10x100 on 1:25 Free
- Can legally complete one of the following training sets: 16x100 on 1:20 Free, 16x100 on 1:40 Back, 16x100 on 1:45 Breast, or 9x50 on:50 Fly
- Best times are equal to or faster than 100 Free 57.99, 500 Free 5:49.99, 200 IM 2:29.99
- Achieve a State qualifying time
Senior
(Primarily 15&O and advanced 13-14 student-athletes)
